Mousetrap Cars (Period 4) (Individual Event) (Tennis Courts behind school.)
(Entry restricted to the first four people per class.)

(a) All cars must be powered solely by one standard mousetrap. (NO RAT TRAPS).

(b) The vehicle needs to be homemade, and not from a commercially available kit.  The vehicles
cannot be made out of children’s building toys (such as Lego or KNEX).

(c) No alterations that would lighten the trap or add energy will be permitted.

(d) The mousetrap must stay with the car.

(e) No part of the mousetrap or addition that would transmit energy may be in contact with the
floor or anything in contact with the floor or the person running the car.  (It may not push off
anything.)

(f) The car must remain in contact with the floor at all times

(g) The race course will be a straight-line 2.0 meter track.  You will only be allowed to race once
for your qualifying time.

(h) After the winners have been determined, the course will be open for those who have yet to
obtain the minimum standards.

(i) Make sure your name clearly appears on the car.

(k) Make sure you clean up your project and materials related to your project or risk
disqualification.

MINIMUM STANDARDS: Car must meet all requirements and go the required 2.0 meters.
