Rockets (Period 2) (Individual Event) (Football Field) (Entry restricted to first three people signed up per class)
(a) All rockets must be designed and constructed with household materials specifically for this competition. No store- bought rocket components that are a part of Estes Rocket kits (parachute,cones, fins, or body) may be used. EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE HOMEMADE. NO METAL PARTS.
(b) All rockets must be designed for use with an Estes "A8 -3" engine
(c) For safety reasons, all rockets must have a parachute that deploys during the launch and a nose-cone that is blunt. If the parachute does not deploy, your rocket will be disqualified.
(d) Entrants may construct more than one rocket
(e) You are only guaranteed one launch of the rocket. A second launch will be allowed if time permits.
(f) Winners will be determined by the highest angles with respect to fixed position away from the launch pad attained by the rocket at the end of the period.
(g) Any rocket deemed unsafe or harmful will be disqualified. The decision of the judges is final.
MINIMUM STANDARDS: All requirements must be met and the rocket must reach a 20 m height. Angles will be measured by an astrolabe.
